Byrne Seafoods was founded in 1974 by our father, John, whose deep-rooted passion for the sea led him to build a business based on quality, sustainability, and local pride. After gaining extensive experience in Killybegs—the largest and most important fishing port in Ireland—he moved to Malin to continue his work in fish processing, establishing Byrne Seafoods as a family-run company.
Customer service was at the heart of Dad’s philosophy. He believed in building lasting relationships and ensuring every product met the highest standards. His dedication to quality and service became the foundation of our reputation, a principle that continues to guide us today.
For nearly five decades, we’ve proudly processed a variety of white fish—including haddock, cod, hake, and monkfish—with most of our catch landed directly at the local pier in Greencastle. This not only supports our fishing community but also helps minimize our carbon footprint.
Although our father passed away in 2022, his legacy lives on through our family’s continued dedication. At Byrne Seafoods, we remain committed to providing the freshest, highest-quality fish while staying true to the values that have defined us from the very beginning.
Did you know our factory is open to the public? You can visit us Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM to purchase the freshest locally sourced fish straight from the pier.
In addition to fresh fish, we also offer a variety of high-quality frozen seafood, including seabass, wild king prawns, baby prawns, squid, mussels, and more.
